World Book Day 2025
Wow! The costumes were absolutely amazing. Some children dressed up as a book character, while others created a book cover on a t-shirt (see the attached photographs). There was also a paper plate competition, where the children excelled themselves with the help of their parents. We're looking forward to the Reading Ambassadors announcing the winners. A few of our entries are attached below.
As a school, we focused on the book, I Want a Dog by Jon Agee. We started the morning listening to a range of songs by MC Grammar. We challenged the children to listen for book clues and discussed their findings. Wow, the children knew lots of books! As a class, we created our own poem about a book that was linked to the poem in the book about a dog. The children came up with some wonderful vocabulary and this can be seen in the floor book along with the poem created. During the afternoon, the children explored with cuddly toys and different materials and objects to find their animal's disguise. The children were then asked to draw their own animals in disguise and these are displayed in the classroom. A big thank-you goes to Mrs Amess for her phenomenal ideas and planning.
