The whole school went into the hall first thing for a very exciting assembly. Mr Broughton carried out two science experiments that captured the children's attention. The first one was seeing which balloon would travel the furthest along the pieces of string. The children had to decide whether the balloon attached to the plastic straw would travel further than the balloon attached to the metal straw.

The second experiment involved vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. Would different amounts of bicarbonate of soda affect the amount of reaction? The children watched carefully as Mr Broughton used a teaspoon, tablespoon, dessert spoon and then the rest of the bicarbonate of soda! Mr Broughton was ready with his paper towels.
