The EYFS children were given the challenge to create a new type of animal, for example, an animal with a long beak, a tail or any other combination to adapt to a given environment. The children searched through the junk modelling box to find the perfect box for their new animal. 

Before the children started, we discussed different environments, such as deserts, forests, the Arctic and many more. We thought about what each place was like: hot / cold, dry / wet. We thought about the kinds of plants and animals that would live there. The children then choose the right environment for the animal they have created. The children then gave their animals a name. 

Wow, EYFS! You created some phenomenal climbing animals who live in the forest. You even created some nocturnal animals which had really large eyes so they could see in the dark.
