The Year 2 children had a fantastic new experience on Wednesday morning! The children met the sports coach from Elite, who introduced them to fencing. With the children having any prior experience, they worked their way through some of the simple moves required to be an effective fencer. Armed with their foils (They were foam, I promise!), the children practised their lunging and aiming techniques, imagining they were scoring points by hitting the end of their foil on their partners' chest. After learning some simple defensive moves, the children were prepared to participate in some fencing matches. With their protective helmets on, the children took turns to compete in the matches and to referee, determining whether a point had been scored. The children had wonderful fun and clearly demonstrated their newly developed skills. Another brilliant session during sports week!
