Mary Seacole Experience
As part of their history topic this term, the children were visited by Mary Seacole!
The children thoroughly loved the interactive session and learnt lots of new information about her life and her impact on nursing. The children acted like the ocean during her many travels, as well as helped Mary make her special medicine using mustard seeds. The children even put on their poshest English accents whilst pretending to be Mr Day. It was wonderful to see the children making links in their own learning as well as beginning to make comparisons between Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale.
At the end of the session, the children asked a range of thoughtful questions before waving goodbye to Mary. A brilliant experience for the KS1 children.
