Collective Worship
Daily Collective Acts of Worship form an essential part of children’s education. We draw upon the Bible, religious festivals, the lives of famous people, moral issues, children’s own experiences, topical events/occurrences and knowledge of other faiths.
Collective Acts of Worship are taken by the staff, representatives of the local churches, other visitors and the children themselves. By doing this we hope to encourage the children to consider spiritual and moral issues and to explore their own beliefs, to develop shared ideals and to reinforce positive values. Parents are invited to join us on special occasions and at times when class assemblies are planned.
The format we use is as follows:
- Monday - Whole School Assembly
- Tuesday - Hymn/Singing Practice
- Wednesday - Key Stage 1 Class Assemblies / Key Stage 2 Shared Assembly
- Thursday - Key Stage 1 Birthday Assembly / Key Stage 2 Class Assemblies
- Friday - Whole School 5 C’s Assembly – A celebration of achievements
Parents have the right to withdraw their children from Religious Education or Collective Worship. However, prior discussion with the Headteacher must be sought before any decision is taken.
